The next day is called Nanda Utsav or the joyous celebration of Krishna’s foster parents Nanda and Yashoda. On this day, people break their fast and offer various cooked sweets during the early hours. In temples people celebrate the birthday of Lord Krishna by singing bhajans and doing acts of raas leela (acts done by Lord Krishna during her childhood and young age ).
Lets know about some raas-leela also known as Krishna – leela of Lord Krishna of his childhood…
Vision of universe in Lord krishna’s mouth :
During his childhood, one day krishna was eating mud, so his elder brother baldev complained to his mother. Yashoda, Krishna’s mother scolded him and asked him to open his mouth. He denied to open it. It made clear to his mother that he ate the mud. His mother forced him to open the mouth.
Krishna opened his rosebud mouth. She bent forward to peer more closely and lo! she felt herself to be whirling in space, lost in time, for inside the baby mouth was seen the whole universe of moving creation, the earth and its mountains and oceans, the moon and the stars, and all the planets and regions.
She was wonder-struck to see the land of Vraja and the village of Gokula, herself standing there with the child Krishna beside her with a wide-open mouth, and within that mouth another universe.
Destruction of Putna
When Kansa got the information of birth of Krishna, he was furious and ordered his men to kill all children born on the same day as Krishna, but the men returned empty-handed. Finally, Kansa sent Putana, the queen of the demons, to kill Krishna. She planned to kill him by feeding him poisoned milk.Krishna was lying in the cot in the courtyard Nanda’s house. Putana assumed the form of a beautiful maiden and happened to be passing by. When she saw Krishna, she asked for permission to pick him up. She offered her breast to feed him and Krishna sucked the life out from her.
